Shannon CochranShannon Cochran is one of the great American actresses: she did the national tour of August: Osage County and created the role of Agnes in Bug (both by Tracy Letts); she’s played a variety of roles in (nerd alert!) six episodes (plus a movie!) of different Star Trek series, in addition to roles in Fringe and The Ring; Desiree in A Little Night Music; Gertrude in Hamlet; in spring 2015 she’ll be playing Regina in The Little Foxes at the Goodman Theatre; and just last week she won the Joseph Jefferson Award for her performance in the Writers Theatre production of Dance of Death here in Chicago. Shannon talks about her background and shares great audition stories, the adventures of working with Michael Shannon, excellent analysis of the best American city for an actor, the value of a meritocracy, posing for Richard Avedon, shout-outs to Stephen Sondheim and “Send In The Clowns”, and the power and value of saying yes.
