Episode 191. Folger Shakespeare Library

Published by austin on

We touched a Folio…and we liked it! Join us for this rare behind-the-scenes glimpse of the largest collection of Shakespearean treasures in the world. Gail Paster, the Director of the Folger Shakespeare Library and Head of Reference Georgianna Ziegler take us on a guided tour and bust myths while showing off hundreds of years’ worth of cool Shakespeare tchotchkes. Featuring the only extant quarto of Titus Andronicus, Edwin Booth’s hair-bracelet, Shakespeare’s Hummel collection (pictured); a special appearance by Scott Simon from National Public Radio, Cleopatra’s finely sculpted asp, and what we consider the holy grail of Shakespeare scholarship. I got to visit the Folgers once, but they didn’t let ME touch nothing. Great to hear from Dee Ryan! Bring back Dee!
